Made in Jamaica

Wednesday 2 May 2007 from 5:30 PM till 12:00 AM
Heineken Music Hall - Amsterdam

The 'Made in Jamaica' Reggae Festival is linked to the 'Made in Jamaica' documentary by the French film director Jerome Laperrousaz. The Dutch première of this documentary took place in the end of 2006 (IDFA, Amsterdam). Click here for more info about the movie.

'Made in Jamaica' is a powerful portrait of the leaders of the reggae music Movement, and how Reggae has become a worldwide phenomenon. The film showcases performances by the best Reggae and Dance Hall artists ever assembled. From their native ghetto to international fame, 'Made in Jamaica' is the story of the artists who represent the Jamaican Dream.

A number of (main) artists who play in the documentary will come to Europe to tour in April/May 2007, to get the public to be part of the ultimate reggae experience. Put on your dancing shoes and come and dance on Mystic Revelation of Rastafari, Third World, Bunny Wailer & The Solomonic Reggaestra and Capleton with The David House Crew!

Black Star Foundation is organising and promoting the Dutch 'Made in Jamaica' Reggae Festival. All income of Black Star Foundation will be used to promote and support African (still) unknown talents. Warm-up & Aftershow by Black Star Sound featuring DJ Den-Den & DJ Parttime Warrior and Brother Marcus & K-Wida on the mic!

There is also a Jamaican market with CD's, reggae goodies and nice Jamaican food by Runn Catering.
